5 EASY NEW YEAR RESOLUTION IDEAS AND 7 WAYS TO KEEP THEM UP

  1.  LEARN SOMETHING NEW
You could start always start small, like learning a new word each day. Or if you’re more ambitious, take up long-term courses like, baking or breakdancing classes. You’ll never know when they’ll come in handy!

     2.   BE A BETTER PERSON

All you got to do is throw in acts of kindness in your daily routine. You see a homeless person on your way to work? Stop for a second and get them coffee. Smile and compliment the receptionist you oh so often tend to walk right by. Go out of your way to make the new staff comfortable.

These smallest deeds can put the biggest smile on people’s faces. And being a better person creates a positive impact on your mood as well.

     3.   SPEND MONEY ON THINGS THAT CREATE MEMORIES

The one constant thing in our ever-changing life is memories. So why not spend money, creating them!

10 years down the road, a holiday trip with your loved ones will matter and not the designer piece you bought. So be careful with the things you decide to spend on.

     4.   TO DRINK WATER INSTEAD OF CAFFEINE OR CARBONATED DRINKS

Why not grab a water bottle instead of the coke or beer can the next time you’re off to get a drink? We all know the health benefits of plain water are endless.

     5.   SHOW MORE LOVE TO YOUR FAMILY

We often tend to take our family for granted, knowing they’ll always be there for us. So do take this New Year to be a little nicer to them and take that extra effort to spend quality time by starting off a family tradition - like a weekend picnic or even just family dinner every Friday night can make all the difference.

And now, 7 ways to keep them up:

  1. You can’t do it alone.
Half the battle is won once you realize you can’t keep up New Year resolutions all by yourself. Now, go get the help you need. Be it from a close friend or through a reminder in your phone.

     2.      Be specific

To make a resolution effective, make it specific. For instance, let your resolution be in favour of “maximum an hour on social media each day” instead of “lesser time on social media”.

     3.       Baby steps

Rather than stating one finalized goal, create a series of smaller deadlines, eventually reaching the resolution.

     4.       Visualize it

Penning down the goals and putting them up in prominent places where you have to see them, like at your work desk space or fridge, increases the likelihood of you making an effort and reaching the goals.

     5.       Be resilient

It’s okay to stumble. Or even fall. Many people tend to give up the moment they fail to keep up with their resolution. Forgive yourself; take time to figure out what went wrong. Pick yourself up and go right back on track.

     6.       Reward yourself

Whenever you've kept up with your resolution pact, treat yourself to something which does not contradict your resolution. This will constantly motivate you to keep up the good job.

     7.       Keep track of your progress

Your progress can be very motivational and show you a glimpse of what you’re capable of.
